Amiee Miller - Life coaching, website photography

It was a pure pleasure working with Aimee creating photographs for her website, this mum of four is a total inspiration, I highly recommend her - she just oozes motivation!

Here is a wee bio about Aimee from her website.

"My name is Aimee I am a Life Coach, fitness junkie, whole food enthusiast and mother to four amazing children aged 2-9.
After having children women often need to regain the motivation to get back on track with nutrition, wellbeing and general life balance. I love supporting women to reclaim their energy and positivity for life.
Maybe it is a total life edit that you need or just help getting past one obstacle that has been impossible to overcome on your own.
I believe a happy mum is the core of a happy family. Its simple really....the happier and healthier mums are, the happier and healthier their children, partners and families become."

Victoria - KILT Clothing

This year as part of the final year of my Bachelor in Arts & Media I worked on a photography fashion campaign for a NZ Designer. At the beginning of the year I contacted labels I would like to work with for my project. KILT Clothing got on board and let me work with their awesome range of clothing. In total this year I completed nineteen shoots, eight of which were for KILT. It was an amazing experience collaborating with so many talented people, hair and makeup stylists along with a team of lovely models. We were lucky to shoot in some wonderful locations too.

Eliana 1900's Wedding at Fairfield House

On Sunday I had a very special photo shoot, it was special for a few reasons:
1 - The model was my own daughter Eliana, who has been asking me for a long time now if she can be a model for me for a proper shoot.
2 - I am a huge history enthusiast, and this shoot was based on a very early 1900's (pre 1920s) wedding dress that my friend had lent me.
3 - We were lucky to be able to shoot inside the Ballroom at Nelson's Fairfield house, a grand old home which I have spent a lot of my childhood inside and out, in the hills and gardens surrounding. My Aunt Nancy's ashes were also scattered in the gardens with a special remembrance seat and tree planted, along with a dear friend Graham.

This shoot also excited me as I was lucky to collaborate with Florist Adrienne Matthews of All About Flowers. Adrienne is very talented, she had well researched the era and created an amazing work of art - bouquet which was the cherry on top, and completed the look.

Ema and Angela also worked hard and created an authentic early 1900s bridal look for Eliana who at nine years only just fitted the dress - just goes to show how much smaller we were 100 years ago!

I have processed the photos with a vintage look to try and recreate them as if they were taken 100 years ago. It was so much fun creating this shoot, look out for a 1980s themed one coming up in the next month...

Admire Fashion July 2016

It was a romantic revival this month for July Fashion, with inspiration coming from the "beautiful age" of Belle Epoque which was the name given in France for the period of history which went from roughly 1871 to the start of world war one (1914).

It themed in well with this months up-cycling issue and got creative juices flowing. Hair Stylist Lauren Lewis crafted a high fashion dramatic hair feature in model Michelle's hair, while makeup Artist Indie Welsh applied dark burgundy lips which added to the drama.

We shot at the stunning Nelson Castle - Warwick House, which completed the theme. Hope you enjoy the spread as much as we did creating it!

Jess

Today I had a really relaxed and enjoyable day collaborating with Jess, Ema & Anja, we had lots of girly fun creating these looks!

I would like to thank Jess for modelling for me and letting us get a bit creative and taking her out of her comfort zone, as well as welcoming us out to her beautiful rural home in Brightwater on such a bright sunny day.

I did what I used to be so scared of doing.. shot in harsh midday sun. Instead of avoiding it, I embrace it, work with it and don't fight it. When working in harsh sun like this I always tell the models to close their eyes until I say 'open' for a few secs then close again. This stops any headaches.

A massive thank you to you all, you really are amazing. I do believe working together with a group of creatives who specialize in and love what they do can together make magic happen a total team effort, I am privileged.

Georgia

I really enjoyed this studio shoot with an awesome team, including some new creatives I had not worked with before, but will certainly be again! Angela of Beauty by Angela worked her magic creating my vision for this series which was muted and pale,  the makeup blew me away! Ema did a great job on Georgias hair - but then I ruined it experimenting with a leaf blower (note: blowing hair for a shoot is not as simple as you would think - about 100 shots attempted not one worked!) I decided to ditch the blowing hair idea, unfortunately the hair was a bit of a mess after that, so Georgia and I had to do our best without a hairdresser or even a brush/comb!

I have experimented with editing out the movable wall and leaving it in the composition, with this being the third mock-up experimentation for my studio project (Fashion Photography for a NZ label)

The amazing wall artworks are actually vintage tourism posters from Nostalgia Antiques

Marina

I am excited to share with you the second of my studio experiments for my 3rd year studio project - 'Fashion Photography for a New Zealand Label'
The label I am going to photograph has a strong 'Kiwi' theme, supporting New Zealand in a wide variety of ways. It is important that I promote the NZ aspect of the label, so I have experimented with different ways in which I can approach this. With the first shoot, I played with props - nostalgic kiwiana icons such as souvenir tea towels, apple crates & Nelson Photo News magazines. This time I have taken New Zealand paintings, prints & photography, placing the model beside them. With each composition I have chosen a dress which 'speaks' to the image, creating unity.

Marina, looks stunning in these dresses, she is a fabulous talent with a beautiful grace to her,

I always welcome feedback, so please comment any thoughts.

With thanks my amazing team of contributors:

Kristen - 1960s & 1970s Kiwiana

This year, the final one of my BA in Arts & Media at NMIT I have created my own brief,

"Create a Fashion Campaign for an New Zealand Designer"

I sent out over 30 emails to different NZ designers and received a great response.  The label I have chosen to work with (under wraps until the end of year reveal) is awesome, I am so exited to be able to photograph their fashion.

As part of my experimentation process I have mocked up different styles of Fashion Spread. I am excited to reveal the first of many... for my 703 brief.

A studio shoot with 1960s/70s Kiwiana theme. I'm sure many of you will remember some of these golden oldie props, the old dial phone, Nelson Photo News et :)

Maddi

On Sunday I had the opportunity to photograph Maddi, a beautiful confident women who is full of inspiration and happy in her own skin. She is a women not afraid to bare some skin and create art with me, I was in my element (a bit of a chilly one - although I had my feather jacket on - massive props to Maddi who froze but took it like a champ - we decided to skip the water for fear of lost limbs!)

A big thank you to my newest collaborator, the up and coming talent with hair and makeup: Anja Katarina Valda Dzaferic

Vienda Maria

I recently met inspiring writer, and mentor Vienda Maria who I  had the pleasure of photographing on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon in Nelson.

A little about Vienda as spoken from her heart...

"I teach women who want to do great things in the world, how to choose freedom in life and work. This isn’t about the fantasy — it’s about the beauty in the freedom to design our own reality.

We all have a story to tell. But instead of getting wrapped up in the story, what is truly breath-taking and inspiring is what we do as a result of our story. My story led me to have a profound fascination with freedom.

Growing up, all I ever wanted was freedom. Freedom to be, say, think, do, feel and choose. And so I spent my entire adult life dedicated to creating a life of freedom.

And as I have looked for freedom in my work, in my lifestyle, in my relationships, in myself, I have discovered one vital thing.

Freedom, true freedom, comes from within."

- Vienda Maria - as quoted from her 'About' page at her site

We started our shoot inside and then headed out side for the sunset, I was on a natural high photographing Vienda - her free spirit is contagious!
